Bonnie Surma
During her career as a Motive Power Analyst with the Illinois Central Railroad, Bonnie chose to return to school to become an RN. As an RN, she has grown through her experiences in ambulatory care, labor and delivery, surgery (cardiac, ortho and plastics) and endoscopy. While working in a private gastroenterology practice/endoscopy center, Bonnie became interested in research.

In 2001, she accepted a position as a Research Nurse Associate at the University of Chicago. Of the many interesting opportunities nursing has afforded her, Bonnie enjoys research the most. She has had the privilege of coordinating many exciting research studies. She feels she has found her niche in the world of medicine by combining her previous years of experience in the business world with her medical knowledge. Medical research is both stimulating and challenging, and has been a great source of her professional fulfillment. When one great study ends, another of equal or greater importance is there waiting to be tackled!
