
Sam Gavzy is a third year undergraduate at the University of Chicago concentrating his studies in the area of History, Philosophy, and Social Studies of Science and Medicine with a minor concentration in the Biological Sciences. Having an interest in the technical, social, as well as the historical components of scientific and medical inquiry, he is planning for a career in medicine as well as scientific and medical journalism.
As one of Dr. Rubin's research assistants, Sam currently serves as a recruiter and data analyst for the studies: Prospective Assessment of Wireless Capsule Endoscopy in Ulcerative Colitis, Survey: Patient Knowledge and Preferences in Regards to Colorectal Cancer in the Setting of Ulcerative Colitis, Assessment of Ulcerative Colitis in Remission and Active Disease Using PET Scans, and Spectral Markers in Aspirin Chemoprevention of Colonic Neoplasia. He is also the acting assistant editor of the Gastrointestinal Research Foundation patient newsletter, "The Inside Tract."
