Ulcerative colitis is a member of the inflammatory bowel disesase family. Unlike Crohn's disease which can affect any part of the gastrointestinal tract, ulcerative colitis is typically limited to the large intestine. Patients with ulcerative colitis should make regular visits to a doctor to keep the disease under control and keep themselves healthy.
